Before I left school on December 16th, I wandered through the fiction shelves, looking for chapter books to read over the break. When I got home with my stack of books, I realized that most of my books were kind of girl-centric, so I made a journey to the public library as well to round out my choices.
One of the best things about the break was sitting in a cozy chair, sippling hot tea, and reading children's books. It's no secret that I like chapter books much more than picture books, but I end up spending a lot of time during the school year reading as many picture books as I can to make sure I know that part of our collection well. What a treat to indulge in my passion...children's chapter books! Here's the rundown on what I read:
The Family Meeting by Sara Pennypacker: This is the latest in the Clementine series and, not surprisingly, is delightful. Perfect for a 2nd or 3rd grade read aloud in the classroom.
Rules for Girls:Moving Day by Meg Cabot: Love this series. I have noticed it on our shelves, but never pulled it off to put it in my reading stack. I am astounded at how many books Meg Cabot churns out!
Rules for Girls: The New Girl by Meg Cabot
Rules for Girls: Best Friends and Drama Queens by Meg Cabot
Tumtum and Nutmeg: Rose Cottage by Emily Bearn: The Tumtum and Nutmeg books are cozy, warm, and a great escape from a hectic day. Emily Bearn has crafted a charming set of stories that are timeless.
Tumtum and Nutmeg: Adventures Beyond Nutmouse Hall by Emily Bearn
The LIghtning Thief by Rick Riordan
